Grade 1: Treble & bass clefs

On the first stave you can see a series of Treble or G clefs.  This clef will name the second line from the bottom as G.  Think of where the lower part of the clef circles the line this is G.

The other stave shows a series of Bass or F clefs.  The line between the two dots is named F.

You may find the treble and bass clefs difficult to draw, so practice writing the clefs on a piece of manuscript paper as shown below.

Please note: The grade 1 to 5 theory exams are now online. Some of the questions in the online exam have been rephrased to accommodate the new style. In this video tutorial some of the descriptions refer to the written paper of old. With regard to the online exams you will no longer be required to write your answers but you will need to analyse the questions and tick or highlight an answer.
